TitleIOL calculation after hyperopic corneal refractive surgery
Abstract Nr.A2069
Purposeto describe and evaluate different methods to calculate the correct corneal power for intraocular lens power calculation after hyperopic corneal refractive surgery.
Methodsretrospective study of 11 eyes of 9 patients. For each patient, we established the pre-refractive surgery, post-refractive surgery, and post-cataract surgery keratometry and spectacle plane refraction. We also calculated the amount of correction obtained by the refractive surgery in every case. After cataract surgery, the degree of error in intraocular lens power was calculated
ResultsSignificant errors in intraocular power calculation after hyperopic corneal refractive surgery will be discussed, solutions will be provided. Intraocular lens power calculation after corneal hyperopic surgery is less accurate than intraocular lens power calculation in virgin eyes; however, this inaccuracy is less pronounced than in myopic corneal refractive surgery.
ConclusionA MedlineR search revealed no useful publications for intraocular lens power calculation after hyperopic corneal refractive surgery; this series will thus be – once published – one of the first to show results for this fascinating problem.
