TitleCataract and postoperative refractive surprises
PurposeTo describe how to avoid and to treat refractive surprises after intraocular lens surgery.
MethodsFirst the possible causes are described. Then the different treatment options are given.
ResultsThe possible treatment are : waiting, adjusting, correcting or explanting. The special aspects of diffractive intraocular lenses are emphasized.
ConclusionPrevention is the best way to avoid refractive surprises. Prior use of an ICR in challenging cases simplifies a possible lensexchange procedure.
