| Purpose | Agents such as the anti-metabolites 5-fluorouracil (5FU) and mitomycin-c (MMC) have revolutionised glaucoma surgery, in patients with a high risk of surgical failure. However, vision threatening occur with the use of these agents. Changes in antimetabolite application can increase the safety and reduce complications while maintaining effectiveness. This new style to inject postoperatively 5-FU is preceded by application of subconjunctival Haelon GV which prevents leakage of 5-FU back into the tear film and enhances the effect of the 5-FU. |
