Title	The Dynamic Contour Tonometer (DCT): a new standard in Intra Ocular Pressure (IOP) measurement ?

Purpose	To assess the performance of Dynamic Contour Tonometry (DCT) by comparing it to Non Contact Tonometry (NCT) .Is this new method influenced by central corneal thickness (CCT) ?
Methods	In private practice I measured in 400 non glaucomatous eyes the IOP by mean of the Pascal tonometer (DCT) and Non Contact Tonometer (NCT). CCT was measured by mean of an electronic pachymeter.
Results	It is difficult to compare the results of DCT with the results of NCT. DCT is a dynamic measurement and differenciates the diastolic IOP from the systolic IOP. The difference is called Ocular Pulse Amplitude (OPA). OPA can range between 1 and 7 mm Hg. CCT has no influence on the IOP measurement with DCT.
Conclusion	IOP measurement with DCT is more accurate than IOP measurement with NCT and offers more information (OPA). Applanation Tonometry can no longer be the standard in IOP measurement.With the use of the Pascal tonometer there is no longer need for pachymetry to correct iop measurement results.
