| Purpose | Eye care is hardly covered by the Rwandan Health System due to limited resources and knowledge. The fight against blindness in Rwanda is illustrated, presenting the activities of the Eye Unit in Kabgayi Hospital in Rwanda, which is one of the eye units the “National Plan of Prevention of Blindness” relies on. The Cataract Surgical Rate in Rwanda is far too low at present to meet the standards of VISION 2020. But in Kabgayi Eye Unit, cataract surgery figures are increasing significantly each year, giving hope for the future. Strategies and results are discussed. |
