Title	Prescribing ground-in prisms
Abstract Nr.	3031

Purpose	In selected orthoptic cases, ground-in prisms are a useful tool in the symptomatic treatment of diplopia or asthenopia.
Methods	Based on orthoptic practice, this presentation provides guidelines in prescribing those prisms.
Results	Technical possibilities and opportunities are explored when ordering prisms added to unifocal, bifocal or progressive spectacle lenses. Basic rules in centering prismatic lenses, shifting their optical center and dividing the prismatic power are explained.
Conclusion	The description of the method used to measure the prismatic power in spectacle lenses, especially in multifocals, completes this presentation on the tips and tricks in prescribing ground-in prisms.
