Titel | One year experience with wide-field digital retinal imaging |
Abstract Nr. | 2028 |
Doel | to report our experience with the use of wide-field digital retinal imaging (WFDRI) in infants and toddlers. |
Methodes | review of patient medical records. |
Resultaten | in the past year WFDRI has been used in cases of non-accidental head trauma, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), Coats’ disease, intraocular tumors and congenital abnormalities. |
Conclusie | an eyelid speculum is needed. Small pupil and media opacities hinder adequate imaging . WFDRI was not the preferred method of screening ROP: it took more time and additional personnel compared to binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy. Image quality was sufficient for diagnostic, documentation, and treatment purposes. Parental education was facilitated. WFDI is an asset in pediatric ophthalmology armamentarium. |
