ICC-5: Corneal reconstruction: How far have we come?

Corneal reconstruction has come a long way since the early 1900's with the first penetrating keratoplasty. With advances in technology, there is possibility to treat patients with highly complex corneal pathologies. This ICC will provide an overview of corneal anatomy, pathology, current surgical reconstructive strategies including state-of-the-art prostheses and a sneak peek into emerging future technologies with stem cells, bio-mimetic corneas and 3D printing.
