ICC-6: Refractive surgery for non-refractive surgeons

Basic course

This instructional course will explain current refractive surgery possibilities for non refractive surgeons.
It will try to explain which patient might be suitable for referral for refractive surgery, and which patient might not be a good candidate. It will give you an insight in the result that can be expected after different refractive surgery techniques, and it will cover the differences between these techniques. Also, it will cover the possible side-effects and complications that might arise after refractive surgery. During the course, basic but important concepts such as optical zone, transition zone, spherical aberration, corneal stability, screening for form fruste keratoconus will be covered.
After having attended this course, the attendee should be very familiar with the current possible techniques, results and side-effects in the exciting world of refractive surgery, and he or she will know very well if his or her patient can profit from refractive surgery or not.
