ICC-10: Transition to FLACS (femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery): Clinical pearls from young ophthalmologists

Basic course

The focus of the course is to provide a practical guidance to implement FLACS in a general ophthalmology practice. As young and starting ophthalmologists, we would like to share our experiences with others who might consider transitioning to FLACS.

The Course schedule:
  1. Hands-on information on how to efficiently prepare patients, set-up the machine (LenSx® Laser in a hospital setting) and instruct your OR staff.
  2. Practical tips on how to get comfortable with the docking process, laser settings and treatment: on how a good laser strategy will avoid most common complications.
  3. Step-by-step overview of corneal incisions, capsulotomy, retrolenticular bubble formation, hydrodissection, fragmentation and arcuate incisions.

Overall, we aim at providing clinical pearls that will help to flatten the learning curve and avoid complications in the transition to FLACS.
