| Titre | FRO - Evaluation of cerebrospinal fluid pressure in patients with Alzheimer’s disease as a possible cause of glaucoma |
| But | There is some evidence that cerebrospinal fluid pressure and trans lamina cribrosa pressure gradient play a role in the pathogenesis of glaucoma. Alzheimer patients, in which glaucoma is more frequent, have a lower CFP. Since they recieve a lumbar punction in their neurological work up, they are an easy group to investigate the hypothesis that correlates a low cerebrospinal fluid pressure with the presence of glaucoma. However this hypothesis was recently confirmed in a prospective interventional study in glaucoma patients and normal patients undergoing a lumbar puncture. We now evaluate the role of cerebrospinal fluid in a non invasive way with 3T MRI imaging. We are developing a new imaging protocol to calculate optic nerve volume and optic nerve sheath volume. This wil be performed in several groups of patients. Data will be analysed and conclusions will follow. |
