TitleOphthalmic complications after endoscopic sinus surgery
Abstract Nr.P03
PurposeTo highlight the possible risks for serious ophthamological complications after sinus surgery.
MethodsThree different clinical cases will be described.
ResultsThe three ophthalmic complications found after sinus surgery were: orbital hemorrhage, blindness and diplopia.
ConclusionBecause of the intimate anatomical relationship between the orbit and the paranasal sinuses, the extra-ocular muscles, the optic nerve and the lacrimal drainage system are prone to be injured during endoscopic sinus surgery. Our three cases show how important these complications can be for the patients.
