TitleLong term Clinical outcomes of Refractive Lensectomy in Moderate and High Hyperopia
Abstract Nr.P20
PurposeTo evaluate efficacy, predictability and safety of Refractive lens exchange in moderate to high hyperopia
MethodsClinical results are presented of Refractive Lens Exchange in 515 hyperopic eyes with a mean preoperative refraction of +5,29 (+/-1,9)Dptr (range +4 to +12). The mean Axl. eye length was 20,9 mm.(range 16,9-23,O MM.). .The average follow up was 52(+/-27)months:145 eyes were followed for more than 5 years. Clinical results and different calculation formulas were analysed
ResultsMean refraction improved from +6,29D. preoperatively to 0,24 D. Mean Ucva changed from 0,1(+/-0,08) 20/200 preop.to 0,62(+/-0,24) 20/34 : mean Bcva changed from 0,76(+/-0,22)20/26 preop.to 0,86(+/-0,19) 20/23. Only 1 eye lost two lines . No major complications were seen; specifically not one case of retinal detachment was seen in this large group. The best outcomes were obtained with the TECNIS Mf Iol. Mean errors of different formula’s: Holladay II -0,96(+/-1,29) Dptr.-Srk-Th -2,25(+/-1,59) Th.,Holladay I -1,64(+/-1,49)D. and Hoffer Q-1,24(+/-1,44) Dptr.
Using the Srk Th.,Holladay I,Hoffer and Holladay II formula, in respectively 28%,44%,68% and 72% a result of +/_ 1D. intended obtained could be obtained
ConclusionRefractive Lensectomy is an excellent and safe option for treatment of medium to high hyperopia
