| Conclusion | A variety of tumors and related lesions can take origin in the pigment epithelium of the eye.A knowledge of the differences between the pigment epithelial cells and the uveal melanocytes allows to understand the differences between their clinical and pathologic reactions.The tumors and related lesions of the pigment epithelium discussed here include:congenital hypertrophy of the RPE,reactive hyperplasia,pigment epithelium hamartoma,combined hamartoma,adenoma and adenocarcinoma. |
