| Title | Nested Variant of Urothelial Carcinoma of the Bladder Metastatic to the Choroid. |
| Abstract Nr. | P11 |
| Purpose | To report the first reported case of choroidal metastasis from the nested variant of urothelial carcinoma of the bladder. |
| Methods | A 58-year-old man developed a progressive painless blurred vision in the right eye. Fundus examination revealed a minimally dome-shaped choroidal lesion simulating a melanoma. Eight years earlier, he was diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder trated with cystoprostatectomy and chemotherapy. A systemic workup did not reveal concomitant metastatic disease. Fine needle aspiration biopsy was not contributory to the diagnosis. |
| Results | As per patients’s choice, enucleation of the affected eye was performed. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of choroidal metastasis from nested variant of urothelial carcinoma of the bladder. The patient was diagnosed 4 months later with systemic metastatic disease and died 7 months after the ocular diagnosis. |
| Conclusion | Choroidal metastasis from bladder carcinoma is an extreme rare event with a poor survival prognosis. |
