| Abstract Nr. | 144 |
| Purpose | Ectasia is a severe complication of refractive surgery, this new technique improves the shape of the cornea |
| Methods | We inserted intacs ( intrastromal corneal ring segments) in 6 eyes who presented signs of ectasia. Two patients presented with keratoconus, three underwent previous lasik surgery and one patient had previous radial keratotomy and prk. |
| Results | In this study the first results will be shown In all eyes the treatment seems to improve the vision, the astigmatism became less irregular, ghost images disappeared, and the objective refraction improved All patients demonstrate in the beginning some fluctuations in their visual acuity, which seems to stabilize the longer the intacs are in place. |
| Conclusion | In all patients the visual acuity improved after intacs, the rings were well tolerated and the results look very promissing |
