Title	Higher accuracy in lasek versus lasik

Purpose	The lasek treatment has recently gain more interest, the surface laser-ablation is considered to be safer compared to lasik. This study evaluates the results of lasek and compare them with lasik
Methods	From November 03 till March 05 we followed 1000 myopic patients, who underwent customised Zyoptix laser- treatment with the Zyoptix 100 with iris recognition, In 500 eyes a lasik treatment was performed, the other group of 500 eyes underwent lasek treatment The myopia ranged from -1 up to – 10, the follow up was at least 6 months
Results	When both groups were compared the enhancement rate seems to be significantly higher in the lasik group. In the lasek group the eyes treated with mitomycin-C didn’t show a different outcome compared to those treated without mitomycin-C
Conclusion	lasek treatment seems to have a higher accuracy and a lower enhancement rate
