TitelResults of segmental scleral buckle in primary rhegmatogenic retinal detachment
Abstract Nr.125
DoelTo evaluate the anatomical results of segmental scleral buckle surgery in patients with primary rhegmatogenic retinal detachment.
MethodesAll cases of primary rhegmatogenic retinal detachment, who underwent surgery by one surgeon with the technique of segmental scleral buckling, and this over the course of 3 years, were retrospectively reviewed.
ResultatenAnatomical success was obtained in 40 (88.8%) of the 45 eyes. There were 3 causes of redetachment being: PVR in 2 cases, undetected hole in 1 case, and intra-vitreal hemorrhage in 2 cases. The final anatomical success rate being 100% after multiple surgeries.
ConclusieOur anatomical success rate is in agreement with the findings in the literature, and the success rate of other techniques for rhegmatogenic retinal detachment.
