| Titel | Bilateral Refractive Lens Exchange with Tecnis MF and ReZoom |
| Abstract Nr. | 328 |
| Doel | Purpose: To compare refractive lensectomy (RLE) binocular visual results with bilateral Tecnis Multifocal IOL implantation and Tecnis MF/ReZoom IOL implantation. Tecnis is a 3-piece silicone lens; ReZoom is a 3-piece acrylic lens |
| Methodes | Methods: 164 eyes underwent MF IOL implantation, 108 with bilateral Tecnis (Group 1) and 56 with Tecnis/ReZoom (the ReZoom was implanted in the dominant eye; Group 2). Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) and eventual subjective complaints were assessed at 3 months post-op. |
| Resultaten | Results: UCVA in Group 1 improved from a baseline of 0,25(20/80 )to 0,84(20/24 )and in Group 2 from a baseline of 0,24(20/85) to 0,91(20/22). A total of 132/136 eyes implanted with the Tecnis could read J1; 15/28 eyes implanted with ReZoom could read J1. In Group 1, 49 patients (90%) could read J5 at intermediate; all patients in Group 2 could read J5 at intermediate. Adverse events, such as glare and halos, were reported in 8% of patients in Group 1 and 6% of patients in Group 2. A total of 49 patients in Group 1 (90%) were spectacle-free, compared with 100% in Group 2. |
| Conclusie | Conclusion: Mixing a refractive multifocal IOL (ReZoom) with a diffractive multifocal IOL (Tecnis) may enhance quality of vision and spectacle independence more than bilateral implantation. |
