| Doel | Evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the OculusGen collagen matrix implanted during glaucoma surgery. OculusGen, by its characteristics, reduce scar formation and may useful in glaucoma surgery. |
| Methodes | In this non randomized prospective study, 7 patients with refractory glaucoma underwent trabeculectomy with the OculusGen device. 4 patients underwent combined surgery and 3 patients underwent trabeculectomy alone. Visual acuity, intra-ocular pressure (IOP), number of glaucomatous medication and the complications were assessed. |
| Resultaten | The mean preoperative IOP was 30 mmHg with 3,2 antiglaucoma medications. The mean follow-up was 7,5 month. At the last follow-up the mean IOP was 13,8 mmHg with 1,2 antiglaucoma medications. There were no significant operative or post-operative complications in any patients. |
| Conclusie | This first results indicates that the OculusGen implantation in trabeculectomy represents a safe and simple approach to treat refractory glaucoma. This new implant brings a new approach to subconjunctival anti-scarring. A longer follow-up period is necessary to confirm the effectiveness of this implant for the refractory secondary glaucoma surgery. |
