TitelScleral lenses for keratoconus
DoelRGP lenses are the firts choice of treatment for Keratoconus. In advanced cases though the high amount of irregular astigmatism and corneal scarring prevents acceptable fitting of these type of lenses. In these cases of advanced Keratoconus the fitting of scleral contact lenses should be considered. The scleral contact lens rests on the external sclera and creates a apical clearance. This clearance prevents futher damage to the corneal suface.

At wich point should we consider fitting scleral lenses or should we wait until corneal scarring makes it unable to fit normal regular RGP lenses? This presentation will discuss clinical indications for fitting scleral lenses instead of regular RGP lenses.These modern scleral lenses are made from high Dk material and can be fit in spherical and torical shapes.
Also front cylindrical corrections can be added to the front surface of the lens. These lenses offer patients better comfort and better visual performance.
