Abstract bekijken

TitelUnusual presentation of endophthalmitis after intra-ocular surgery: a House, M.D. story.
DoelIntroduction:
Endophthalmitis is a rare complication that can occur in 1/1500 patients after any intra-ocular surgery. Most cases are treated in emergency using broad-spectrum intravitreal antibiotics, sometimes combined with anterior chamber flushing or vitrectomy.
ResultatenIn the cases series that will be presented, the clinical response after this standard treatment did not lead to the expected clinical result. Further investigation was required to determine a tailored treatment in these cases.
ConclusieAlthough endophthalmitis is a rare complication, standard therapy may not be sufficient in some cases, making the search for a diagnosis and tailored therapy often a difficult quest.
