TitreMelanogenesis (huid, oog, CNS), Albinisme (protectie en follow-up) en Congenitale Hypopigmentatie syndromen
Abstract Nr.210
ButIn the past decade, there has been a tremendous explosion of knew knowledge about the pigmentary system. The elucidation of determinants of melanocyte development from the neural crest and the description of mutations associated with congenital disorders of pigmentation, has led to a better understanding of these disorders. Two categories of hypopigmentary disorders must be distinguished and will be discussed. Disorders of melanocyte development such as Waardenburg syndrome and piebaldism, and disorders of melanocyte function such as oculocutaneous albinism, Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome and Chediak-Higashi syndrome. Many of these disorders are associated with extracutaneous anomalies. Prompt diagnosis is important because it leads to ophtalmologic intervention as well as the institution of sun protection programmmes.
