| Titre | EpiLASIK and myopic excimer laser ablation |
| Abstract Nr. | 329 |
| But | To evaluate efficacy and safety of Epi-LASIK treatment in myopic ablation. |
| Méthodes | 100 myopic eyes (range 1.25D-10D) having undergone epi-LASIK with the Gebauer epikeratome or the Moria Epi-K and the Wavelight Allegretto excimer laser will be analyzed. Clinical outcome, postoperative pain, haze and other potential complications were analyzed. |
| Résultats | Patients had no haze or traces of haze at the 3 months follow-up. Spherical equivalent refraction of 97% of the eyes was within +/- 1.0 D of attempted refraction. |
| Conclusion | EpiLASIK is a safe surgical procedure, does not offer the same postoperative comfort as LASIK but reduces postoperative discomfort and haze compared to other surface techniques. Comparative studies are needed to prove that epi-LASIK is more effective than other surface photoablation surgeries and longer follow-up is needed to determine long-term clinical outcome. |
