Titre | Endonasal endoscopic surgery for an idiopathic acquired dacryocystocoele |
But | To report the history of a patient with idiopathic acquired dacryocystocele. |
Méthodes | A 42-year-old woman presented an unilateral chronic epiphora without any swelling at the medial canthal region. |
Résultats | A computed tomography scan and a MRI of the orbit revealed an oval lesion in the medial canthal region. An endonasal endoscopic approach confirmed the diagnosis of idiopathic acquired dacryocystocele and resolved the epiphora. |
Conclusion | This case report illustrates the need of a complete assessment of the lacrimal pathway in case of unilateral chronic epiphora. A thorough ophthalmologic examination, nasal endoscopy and imaging must be included in the diagnostic workup. In case of an idiopathic acquired dacryocystocele, endonasal endoscopic surgery can be an effective option of treatment with minimal morbidity. |
