TitreThe Intralase FS60, Femtosecond Laser, first results
ButTo assess the safety and predictability of the Femtosecond Intralase to create accurate flap thickness and diameter with minimal complication rate.
MéthodesBetween April and August 2008, we treated 142 eyes with the femtosecond laser FS60 Intralase of AMO, 18 eyes were hyperopic, 124 eyes myopic,
In the first 40 eyes the attempted flap thickness was set at 120 micron, the diameter at 9 mm, and a superior hinge was used.; once we got familiar with the laser, the flap thickness was decreased to 110 microns, the other parameters remained unchanged.
Résultats All procedures went uneventfull except in one eye were the flap making was aborted due to a too small flap ,three flaps were slightly decentered but didn't impair normal ablation; one eye showed postoperatively a small area of epithelial ingrowth; only one patient complained two months postoperatively of dryness symptoms worse than before, , three eyes showed slight interface inflammation.
ConclusionThe Femtosecond laser has numerous advantages on mechanical flap creation, as exact thickness of the flaps, the steep side cut, less incidence of dry eyes, less induced corneal aberrations, less incidence of epithelial ingrowth,
The Intralase femtosecond offers the widest experience with over 1 million cases done worldwide
