TitreResults of corneal crosslinking in the Antwerp University Hospital
Abstract Nr.347
ButTo report the results of UVA/riboflavin crosslinking (CXL) for the stabilisation of progressive keratoconus and post-LASIK ectasia in the Antwerp University Hospital.
MéthodesA prospective study of 40 eyes that have undergone CXL as described by Spörl, Seiler and Wollensak (2003) using irradiation with ultraviolet A 365 nm 3 mW/cm2 for 30 minutes after removal of the central epithelium. Visual acuity, topography (Placido and Scheimpflug), glare, aberrometry and contrast sensitivity were examined.
RésultatsGathering of data is still ongoing at the time of writing this abstract so that results are only preliminary. In 85 % of patients visual acuity (VA) is unchanged or improved. For the preliminary data there seems to be no statistically relevant difference for visual acuity and topographic parameters. Full results will be presented orally. Four patients had complications (ulcer, epithelial defect, kerato-uveitis).
ConclusionOur experience confirms the findings of the literature: progressive ectasia can be stabilised by CXL. The number of complications in this series (4/40) is higher than reported until now.
