| Titre | The ring caliper: an easy way to make a precise anterior capsulorhexis |
| But | A new type of caliper is presented to optimize the size, shape and centration of the capsulorhexis during IOL surgery. This flexible, ring-shaped tool is positioned on the anterior capsule surface, where it is kept in place by viscoelastics. When in place it provides an ideal guideline for the surgeon to follow, which facilitates the achieving of an optimal rhexis shape and centration. The search for the ideal method to calibrate an anterior capsulorhexis of a well-defined diameter was motivated by the development of the twin-rhexis lens using the very new concept of the bag-in-the-lens implantation. In order to properly implant this new lens, aiming at eradicating PCO, it is imperative to have a calibrated anterior and posterior capsulorhexis. |
