TitreAccoRing: does it work?
Abstract Nr.149
ButTo present and evaluate an implant designed to maximize the pseudo-accommodation by forward move of the optic.
Méthodes34 patients received the new implant, AccoRing, in 1 eye and a conventional implant in the fellow eye.Reading ability was assessed at 3 months in standard conditions of distance and illumination.
RésultatsThe average spherical addition to read Parinaud 2 was 2.25 diopters with the conventional implant and 1.50 diopters with the AccoRing ( p < 0.005).
In both groups there was a large dispersion of results, partly related to the age of the patients and also related to the spherical power of the intraocular lens.
ConclusionLike other "accommodative" implants, AccoRing does permit a limited pseudo-accommodation.
The post-operative ability to read without addition cannot be guaranteed. The addition needed for near vision is reduced by comparaison to classical monofocal implants.
