| Titre | TPA + SF 6 gas intravitreal injection for macular hemorrhage in AMD patients |
| Abstract Nr. | 182 |
| But | to assess the efficiency and safety of TPA + SF 6 gas intravitreal injection for macular hemorrhage in AMD patients as a procedure to quickly restore some visual acuity and to help making an accurate diagnosis and taking a therapeutical decision . |
| Méthodes | retrospective study of 39 eyes of 39 patients .(2003-2004) mean age 76 years 21 women-18 men sub group unilateral (18 eyes) / bilateral AMD (21 eyes) injected in operation room under topical anesthesia TPA concentration of 50µg/0.1ml, intavitreal injection : 50µg TPA + 0.3 to 0.5 CC SF6 gas after paracentesis prone position of patients 2 days after injection |
| Résultats | at day 1 : -90% of patients had migration of macular hemorrhage - mean visual acuity improved by 2 snellen lines at day 10 : 82 % of patients could undergo further investigation (FA,ICG,OCT) long term :- no complication - 46 % of unilateral AMD patients : mean visual acuity >0.2 snellen(observation and treatment PDT,laser) - 48% of bilateral AMD patients : mean visual acuity > 0.2 snellen (observation and post 360° retinal translocation) |
| Conclusion | TPA + SF6 gas intravitreal injection seems to be a safe and efficient procedure for macular hemorrhage in AMD patients , helping to make a quick diagnosis and find a therapeutical option as soon as possible . It helps restoring some visual acuity in patients with sudden blindness due to the hemorrhage . |
