Basic
Lowering the intra-ocular pressure (IOP) is the key element in glaucoma treatment. Filtering surgery is the most efficient therapy to lower the IOP. However, the final outcome of trabeculectomy is highly dependent on postoperative management. Therefore, it is crucial for anyone who is either performing trabeculectomy, or who is taking care of glaucoma patients after surgery, to have a thorough knowledge of the possible postoperative scenarios and their appropriate management. During this ICC, a panel of two experienced glaucoma surgeons will provide a comprehensive overview of the various postoperative scenarios and complications. A detailed practical approach for each of these situations will be given and discussed. The aim of this symposium is to provide the participants with an extensive baggage of practical take-home messages, and to improve their confidence and skills in the postoperative management of glaucoma patients.
