Title	Epi-Lasik with the new Epi head of the XP Microkeratome
Abstract Nr.	319

Purpose	To evaluate the new Epi Head of the Xp Microkeratome from Bausch & Lomb.
Methods	20 myopic eyes, with a refraction lower than -5 D and an astigmatism lower than -1 D, and 4 hyperopic eyes, with a refraction lower than +2.50 D, were enrolled in this 6 months follow-up study. Surgery was performed by the same surgeon (BM), using a 217Z-100 Bausch & Lomb Excimer Laser and a Xp Microkeratome with the Epi Head. Data were collected at J1, J3, 1M, 3M, 6M. Comfort of the patient, visual recovery, satisfaction were noted on a scale from 1 to 10. Speed of epithelial wound healing was measured.
Results	There was a significal improvement in patient comfort, speed of visual recovery and haze infiltrates using the Epi Head versus conventional PRK or Lasek. No complications occurred. Data will be presented.
Conclusion	The Epi-lasik with the new Epi Head is a safe and reliable method.
