Title	Closure rate of macular hole day 1 with silicone oil tamponade
Abstract Nr.	133

Purpose	To evaluate the closure rate of macular hole day one with silicone oil tamponade.
Methods	From March 2007 until July 2007 idiopathic macular holes (n=18) were included in this study. Preoperative and day 1 postoperative SOCT Copernicus (Optopol Technology) was performed.
Results	The average width of the macular hole was 1257 microns (range 754-2143; SD 405). The functional closure rate at day 1 was 83.3% (U-type configuration). The average width of the anatomic closure of the hole was 287 microns (SD 66). None of the patients had a remnant of subretinal fluid. During the median follow up period of 3,5 months all macular holes were functionally closed (U-type configuration).
Conclusion	Silicone oil tamponade with endodrainage of the macular hole has a successful functional closure rate within 24 hours.
