TitleAnalysis of results after toric implants
Abstract Nr.305
PurposeEvaluation of 80 eyes with Acrysof Toric intra-ocular lens SN 60T3-T4-T5 (IOL) for correction of 1 to 2 diopter of corneal astigmatism in cataract surgery. Group I consisted of 30 eyes implanted with SN60T3correcting 1 diopter of astigmatism at the corneal plane. Group II consisted of 20 eyes implanted with SN60T4 correcting 1.5 diopter of astigmatism at the corneal plane. Group III consisted of 30 eyes implanted with SN60T5 correcting 2 diopter of astigmatism at the corneal plane.
MethodsAll patients had a normal ophthalmologic examination besides cataract. Pre- and 3 months post-operative refractive results were evaluated as well as change in topography and internal astigmatism. Clues for exact alignment, implantation and evaluation of post-operative results will be shown.
ResultsPre-operatively refractive astigmatism was within 1 diopter in 16% (5 eyes) in group I, 25% (5 eyes) in goup II and 13% (4 eyes) in group III. Three months post-operatively 93% (28 eyes), 100% (20 eyes) and 83% (25 eyes) were within 1 Diopter of astigmatism. Improvement of astigmatism was seen in 90% in group I and II and in 96% in group III.
ConclusionAcrysof toric IOL SN60 T3-T5 can reduce existing astigmatism in cataract surgery. Exact alignment and biometry is necessary for good post-operative results .
