Title	Routine Use of Healon5® in Cataract Surgery
Abstract Nr.	163

Purpose	To discuss the use of Healon5 in phaco surgery.
Methods	The type of ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD) used in phacoemulsification surgery can have an impact on chamber maintenance, performing continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis, endothelial cell protection, and placement of the IOL in the capsular bag.
Results	Healon5 combines cohesive with dispersive properties. Therefore it is advantageous for multiple steps during cataract surgery. The use of Healon5 in combination with capsular dyes in a three-step technique will also be shown.
Conclusion	Healon5 can be used routinely during cataract surgery once the surgeon understands how it differs from other viscoelastic agents.
