Moderators
Marie-José TASSIGNON, Tanja COECKELBERGH, Jos ROZEMA

Aims of the course: This course will focus on psychophysical and optical devices currently available to measure quality of vision beyond the snellen vision. It will promote better understanding of patient's complaints before and after cataract and refractive surgery.

Course faculty
  • M.J. Tassignon: Overviews of clinical situations justifying more advanced investigations in order to get same insights about patient's complaints. Predictability of sight effects after surgery (avoidable and less avoidable).
  • J. Rozema: Results of a pilot study on Benchmarks of quality of vision in the normal population.
  • T. Coeckelbergh: Measuring visual acuity and correlation with contrast sensitivity
Achievement:
The attendee will get better insights of currently available devices to evaluate quality of vision. Measuring quality of vision is no longer a vague concept but can be considered as a new subspeciality of ophthalmology justifying the start of "Quality of vision" centers.
