Treating diabetic macular edema remains a challenge for the ophthalmologist. Treatment is ranging from laser treatment over intravitreal injections up to vitrectomy with ILM-peeling. Advantages, results and complications will be discussed for each technique on the basis of illustrated cases. Special attention will be given to newer intravitreal drugs.
